Easter Sunday: Grandma Forman's Farewell

For Easter one tradition we do is to give the kids a new picture of Christ in their Easter baskets every year to put in their rooms. This year we also gave Ashby her 1st Book of Mormon. She was so excited to have her own scriptures to read now, and has been doing great reading them everyday during quiet time.I tried to snap a quick pic before we ran out the door to church. We have church at 9:00am and Ryan always has early morning meetings before church (7:30am). So it is a little bit of a time crunch to get the kids ready and out the door by myself. The only sad thing is I can never get a picture of Ryan and I with the kids before church on Special days. Thankfully Ryan did get to see the kids open their Easter baskets @ 7:00am before he had to run. I was sure it would be the only day the kids would sleep in and Ryan would have to miss it. Ashby's Easter hair style. I got the idea from here: http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/2009/04/soft-curls-for-easter.htmlAshby & her Great Grandma Forman

My Grandma Forman (Ashby & Dalton's Great Grandma) just got her call to serve a mission! She will be serving in the Salt Lake Family History Center for 1 year. Her farewell talk was on Easter Sunday. We all went to hear her speak. She did such an amazing job. We are so proud of her. We will certainly miss her while she is away. Now our family will have 3 missionaries in the field at the same time (my parents, my grandma & my younger brother)....pretty cool. After church Grandma Forman had everyone over to her house for a wonderful lunch. It was fun to see and visit with family we haven't seen in so long. Ashby had a lot of fun playing outside with her cousins.Ashby & Grandma Bellows.Ashby & Daddy with Sparklers!!Dalton loving Grandpa's motorcycle! We had quite a busy day Sunday. After Grandma Forman's farewell we went to a nice lunch at her house. Then we drove back to Ryan's parents house for Easter dinner. We had a yummy barbeque with hamburgers and hot dogs. Rich and Cheri had the kids decorate their own Easter bags and then they hid a different color eggs for each kid. Some eggs had candy and others had little notes they could redeem for prizes and toys. The kids really liked that! Ashby & Dalton had a lot of fun playing with their cousins. They flew kites in the backyard, played soccer with Uncle Alex, and Dalton even got to sit on Grandpa's motorcycle and start the engine! The grand finale was FIREWORKS! Kind of different for Easter, but so much fun! The kids were loving the sparklers!! Thank You Rich and Cheri!! We had such a fun time!

HOW FUN! What a great Sunday. Your kids are adorable in their new outfits, and of course, Ashby's hair looks amazing! I love the picture idea, too. Shanna

What a fantastic tradition (the pictures of Christ in their baskets). I'm totally stealing that idea! Congrats to your grandma on her mission call--how exciting!
