Christmas Kick-Off

This year we wanted to try something a little different.  I saw this idea from a good friend of mine.  You have a sort of Christmas kick-off the first day in December.  We gave the kids their Christmas Pajamas early so they can wear them all month.  Then we started several different advent calendars with them.  They were soooo excited!!  This year Grandma Becky made each family their very own “Caring Cousins” advent calendars to follow; complete with prizes and candies to open coordinating for each day!!  This has been soooo awesome!!  I love that all the activities in the advent are service related instead of activities.  As soon as they complete the service they get to open the corresponding package.

Then (we do this one every year and the kids love it) every night we do an advent scripture calendar with the kids before bedtime.  I found this great one years ago from the Friend called scripture ornaments.  I laminated it and made one for the two older kids.  Every night we read the scripture for the day and get to put that ornament on the tree if they answer the question right from the scripture we read.

We have also been doing 25 days of Christ that I found on Pinterest(here is the link).  I LOVE this.  For each day in December it has a scripture, symbolic ornament, picture and or movie and quote to read and focus on the Saviors life.  It has been so awesome!!
