I cannot believe Ashby turned 10 years old this year!!  It really feels like she was just born yesterday.  Sounds cliché but its true!  We are continually blessed by her spirit in our home.  She is the daughter I’ve always wanted.  She has been a parenting dream so far and is such a joy to us each day.  Ashby is incredibly bright and talented.  She never ceases to amaze us with the things she says and does.  Her Spirituality & strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ radiate to all those around her.  She recently wrote this entire talk all by herself for our Eight is Great program at church.  She has such a talent for speaking and writing.  I think she gets that from her Daddy. :)

“Hi, my name is Ashby. I was asked to speak to you guys about baptism. Baptism is a very special thing. It’s when you become a member of God’s Church and when you receive the greatest gift of all, the Holy Ghost. When you get the Holy Ghost he will be your constant companion. He can give you revelations and he can encourage you to choose the right. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t feel the Holy Ghost before you are baptized. It just means before you are baptized you don’t have the Holy Ghost with you all the time. I remember that feeling the day of my baptism. I was so excited I wouldn’t sit still. I was very impatient. Finally the time came. I was in my dress taking pictures in front of the sign that said, The Church of Jesus Christ. That sign speaks the truth. That day trying to get my brothers to smile I felt the spirit and now whenever I walk past that sign I now the church is true. When I got into my jumpsuit I was ready. I stepped into the water finding out it was going to take more than my feet in to get my body used to the temperature so I walked all the way in. That felt a lot better! A funny thing happened I forgot to take my headband off. Luckily my Grandpa realized the mistake before I went under the water! After that my dad started the prayer and I was put underwater and I was filled with the spirit. I knew of Heavenly Father‘s love. At the confirmation I got the Holy Spirit. I’m so grateful for that day. That day set the course for my life and it will set the course of your life to. I would like to share with you a very sacred experience. After my baptism I started to think more in depth about the Church and the statement that this is the only true Church. As I prayed and read the scriptures I looked back on my baptism and just like that, I knew this Church was true. As I look back now on all these experiences I am so grateful for my baptism. I would like to bear my testimony that I know this Church is true and that your baptism will be the best experience in your life. I know that the Holy Ghost will be your constant companion and I know you are all children of God. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”

She is in 4th grade and loves going to school everyday.  She loves reading, writing, computers, music and doing any kind of special projects for class.  Ashby is a hard worker and determined to do everything right.  She loves playing sports.  Her favorites are basketball & soccer.  She still loves to dance (jazz and ballet), and she loves the stage and performing!  She also loves to sing in our ward choir.  We are hoping to start voice lessons for her in a few years.  She still enjoys taking piano lessons and is doing great with them!  Ashby loves spending time with family and playing with her younger brothers.  Her and Dalton are best buddies and walk/scooter home from school everyday.  She is a great big sister and good example to her brothers.  Ashby is friendly, kind, witty, loving, compassionate, aware of others needs, fun to be around, has a great sense of humor, and a beautiful smile.  I have loved watching her learn and grow these past years.  She has been nothing but a complete joy to our family.  We feel so blessed everyday to be her parents and thank the Lord daily for sending her to us.  We love you our little blue eyed girl!!  We can’t wait to see what the next 10 years look like!
