This craft is based on the story by Ed Emberley, "Go Away Big Green Monster!". It is a darling story and a great picture book for Halloween. Your local library should have it or I have even seen it sold at Target around this time of year. So read the book 1st to your child then try this fun project.

What you will need:Glue
Green paint(washable)
Construction Paper cut out in the following shapes:2 yellow circle eyes
2 black circle to go inside yellow circle for eyes
1 red mouth
1 blue/green nose
4-5 white teeth
2 squiggly blue ears
7 scraggly purple hair
(you can have these pre-cut and ready to go or if your children are old enough they can help you cut out the supplies.)
1 sheet of black construction paper folded in half
Pour some green paint in the middle of the folded black paper making a circle of green paint. Have child fold the black paper back in half with the paint inside and rub the paper like this:
When you open the black paper you will have your big green monster face like below.
Next have child put on all the pieces of the face as it outlines in the book. The green paint will act as the glue . . .Except when you glue on the teeth to the mouth & the black part of the eyes on the yellow circle eyes you will need real glue. Like shown below:
Ashby's version of the big green monster! You can have them write their name on the black part with a white crayon.
Ashby wanted to do 2 different ones. She LOVED this project. I love how many times you can do this project and it always comes out different.
I was even brave enough to try this project with Dalton. He loved it as well.
Smiling with the finished project. Too cute.
Happy Halloween!!
