Dalton's Angry Birds Party!

We decided to do an Angry Birds party for Dalton this year.  He loves the game and he was so excited about it.  It turned out to be such a fun party to plan!  Dalton loved helping me plan all the games and little details even the invitations I made.  He loved "crash the party" on the invite.  He was so excited when the invitations finally came in the mail.
Angry Birds stuff is everywhere so it was no problem finding shirts for all 4 of the kids!  Here they are before the party started.  They were all so excited!

The entry way to the party.  We even set-up Dalton's little angry bird game on the table that had the theme song playing.  It drove us all a little crazy. Haha.  Dalton's cardboard blocks were perfect to decorate with too.  Pinterest had so many great ideas and links to freebies I used to make some of the decorations for the party.
The Birthday boy!

I found this idea online to make the pom poms into angry birds.  I thought it was such a cute idea.  They were really easy and fun to make.  I loved how they turned out.  We made a pom pom for each of the different birds.

Another idea I found was to make the pigs out of green paper plates.  I made a few of these and put them up around the house for decorations too.

My very talented friend Gina Hasler (the Cake Reno) made Dalton's Angry Birds cake for us.  It turned out so awesome!  Dalton was in total awe!  We loved the little yellow bird in the slingshot.  So much fun!  I loved all the bright colors of his party.

So we discovered that rock candy is super delicious!! I had no idea!  I got it because it looked pretty . . . but the kids were loving these little babies.  So I finally tried some, and it is soooo yummy!

The cupcakes.  These are always fun to make.

Jeff, Kim, Preston and Avery looked awesome in their Angry Birds shirts for the party!

For a little craft activity I had the kids make their own pig plates when they first came to the party.  When they finished I hung them up for decorations around the house.  The kids loved making these and they turned out so cute.

Wing-stop for dinner of course (sticking with the "bird" theme)!

After dinner as sort of a transition activity we had the kids try to shoot the pig plate hanging in the tree with a slingshot and a soft golden egg.  They loved it!  The kids were so excited when they heard the word "slingshot". Haha.  Gotta love boys!
I painted a bunch of playground balls for the life-size Angry Birds game.  I used this tutorial to help me paint them.  They were so fun to make and the kids just loved them!  Dalton was so surprised I could actually paint them to look like Angry Birds.  He kept saying, "Mom you are a really great Artist!"  Haha.  He's my biggest fan! :)
Another idea I found from pinterest was to make a life-size Angry Birds game made up of empty boxes and green playground balls painted like the pigs from the game.  Then I had the kids throw the big red Angry Birds ball I painted to try and knock it down.  It turned out pretty fun.  The only bummer was it was really windy that day so it was hard to keep the boxes from falling before the kids could throw the ball at it.
Brooks and Dalton giving it a try.  The kids all had fun with it.  Some of them really had strong arms!  I was impressed.
The pigs were really fun to create.  Dalton especially loved the king pig.
The next game we had the kids play some Angry Bird bowling.  Again we used the red Angry Birds ball to knock over these pig cans I painted.  I found the idea from here.
We also had pin the beak on the bird.  Such a classic right?!
For the goody bags I found these great wooden slingshots and golden foam eggs from Oriental Trading.  I used a computer print off faces for the red angry birds bags.
Singing to the Birthday boy!  He was so cute when we sang to him just smiling ear to ear.

Presents!!  Dalton was so cute opening his presents.  He gives the best reactions when he opens them.  Each one he opened he thought it was the coolest best thing ever.  It was so fun to watch.    He is really into legos so he got a lot of lego sets.  He also got a lot of cool games, books, building things, pajamas, clothes and more.  He was pretty excited with all the presents he got.  After the party he said, "Mom it's like Christmas!"

Pinata!

Daddy took Dalton on a special Birthday outing to lunch at Port of Subs then miniature golf, and race cars.  They had a great time together.  Dalton is such a sweet little brother.  He wanted Ashby to come with him on his Birthday outing.  He said, "I always have more fun when Ashby comes."  He is the best.  While they were gone I was busy getting the party all set-up at the house so when they came home everything was ready for the party.  Dalton was so excited when he saw everything all set-up.  He could hardly wait for the party to start.  He had such a great time at his party.  He loved playing with all his friends and cousins during the party.  I love watching the kids enjoy their special day.  It is fun to watch the kids appreciate their Birthday parties more and more the older they get.  It was a lot of work but so worth it to see this little guys face so happy the whole time!  Love you little buddy.   Happy Birthday Dalton!!
