Rib Cook Off

DSC_05444x6 Labor day week-end means one thing in our family: The Best in the West Rib Cook-Off.  Yummy!!!  It is not a question of if we will go but how many times we will go.  Yes we are nuts for our ribs!!  They are soooo good.  This year we went 3 times.  Once on Wednesday just Ryan and I (which was so much fun . . . thanks Cheri for watching the kids!), then on Saturday with Mom, Kristi, and Jackie, and all the kids and again on Monday with all the kids.  So. Much. Fun.DSC_05414x6This year our favorite was Butch’s by far!  The ribs were so meaty and tender they just fell off the bone, and the sauce was perfect!  I’ve never tasted anything like it!  It’s a shame I didn’t take any pics of the ribs!  We also liked Bone Daddy’s and Uncle Bob’s.  Chicago ended up winning and my parents really liked those.  We will have to try those next year.DSC_05314x6

Another favorite: these homemade chips.  Seriously good. We also really loved the Sierra soft serve ice cream.   DSC_05324x6 DSC_05364x6

I think Wednesday was our favorite day to go without kids because it is the first day and it is not too crowded.  It is also good because it is early in the week so you aren’t sick of ribs by the weekend.  Monday was our favorite day to take the whole family.  It is never too crowded and it is perfect weather right around 10:45.  We let the kids do some rides and visit the craft shops too.  They had so much fun.  Brooks LOVED going on the huge slide with Daddy!  IMG_0462
