Happy 3rd Birthday Brooks!

DSC_4028subtlecolor

Brooks turned 3 on February 12th.  I cannot believe he’s three already.  He is the cutest and sweetest little boy{well most of the time he is three after all}.  He is very busy and active.  He is a lot of fun.  We are really enjoying him right now.  He loves to smile and laugh.  He has an excitement for life that is contagious.  His eyes light up with excitement with anything new.  He loves going places like the park or even just to pick up the kids from school.  Life is just exciting for Brooks!

He is very affectionate and loving.  He will say I love you and give unsolicited hugs and kisses  on a daily basis.  We love it.  He is very active and loves to rough house with his brothers and play outside.  He loves climbing things and is very adept at it.  He really enjoys anything he can do with his hands; puzzles, Legos, building blocks, etc.  He loves figuring out and how things work.  He is articulate and can communicate his thoughts and feelings very well.  He loves reading books, stickers, coloring, and playing with action figures.  He loves his blankets and is a great sleeper for naps and bedtime.

He loves playing with Dalton when he is home from school.  He can always make Ryder laugh.  They usually get into plenty of trouble when they are together!  He is a good big brother.  He shares pretty well for his age and he is a master at trading things with Ryder to get what he wants.  It is pretty funny.  Brooks is very social and loves to play and be around other kids.  When someone comes to our house he always responds by taking their hand (no matter who it is) and saying, “Hi!  Do you want to come in to our home, come on in!”

He is definitely a handful to take care of during the day and like most 3 year olds loves to test and push the limits on a daily basis. Some of the things he says makes us laugh.  His favorites are, “Guess what?!” , “I’m sick of it” & “thanks a lot (in a sarcastic tone)”.  He is also very polite and loves to say thank you for anything you give him.  He is always very sincere when he says it too.  It is the cutest.    He loves Lego guys and Legos in general, Star Wars, Toy Story, cars, balls, dressing up, boxing, sword fighting, playing outside, running, jumping, yelling, you get the idea.  He’s pretty crazy.  His smile melts my heart and makes me feel so blessed to have him in our family.  He was definitely worth the wait!  We love you Brooks!!!      DSC_40224x6

He is still a Daddy’s boy {BIG TIME} and will choose Ryan over me any day of the week.  Not sure how this happened but I love it!  DSC_3585DSC_3606cropDSC_35884x6DSC_40104x6The morning of his birthday he was so excited he got to open some presents.  He wanted to keep going but we wanted to make sure he still had some to open for his party later that night.  He is at the best age for presents.  He loved anything he opened and was so excited about each one.  Ashby made him a cute Toy Story card and a homemade spy kit for his present.  The girl amazes me.  She is always so thoughtful.  Brooks really loved the army guys we got him and his Star Wars pajamas.DSC_40154x6DSC_40174x6DSC_40204x6DSC_40294x6Another present we got Brooks was this Lego table I made from an IKEA lack end table and some Lego plates glued on (easy peasy).  He loved it.  I made Dalton one last Summer and it has been a hit.  Brooks is always in playing on it when Dalton is at school.  So now he has one of his own complete with a Lego set Daddy put together the night before.  So fun!  DSC_40314x6DSC_40344x6

We surprised him with it after Daddy took him on a special outing to Scheels to ride the Ferris Wheel and shoot the guns.  We had it all set-up in his room when he came home.  He was so excited.  DSC_40384X6

Moments like this are definitely rare so I’m glad I was able to capture it on camera.  The boys were being quiet which never happens and when it does it is usually not a good sign so I ran upstairs in a panic to find this: Dalton reading a book to Brooks.  PRECIOUS!!!  This made my day; probably even my whole week!!  I’m so glad they will always have each other as brothers. :)

After Brooks took a nap I woke him up for his party (more on that later) and I asked him if he was ready for his party and he said, “It’s my Birthday again?!”  Ha ha.  He was thrilled there was even more fun to come.  So cuteDSC_40394X6
