Brooks turned 1 year old on February 12th! It is hard to believe it has been a year since he joined our family. Time is going by too quickly. We love this little guy so much. He has brought us so much joy. A few things about Brooks I would like to remember.
He loves music! When he hears music he starts to dance by bobbing up and down and waving his arms like crazy. He smiles so big and claps his hands to the beat. In church or if we sing during FHE he immediately stops and listens to us sing then starts waving his hands like he is leading the music.
He loves to play with balls (especially basketballs). He loves to chase balls all around our kitchen on the hard wood floors.
Brooks loves cars. He will get on his hands and knees and push a toy car around just like his older brother. It cracks me up. Ashby never did that with cars as a baby. It is amazing all the differences between boys and girls.
Brooks loves books. Especially ones with touch and feel things or flaps. He loves being read to by Mom, Dad, Ashby or Dalton.
He loves "wrestling" and playing with Dalton. If you are sitting down on the floor Brooks loves to come up behind you and try to get you. He laughs and smiles and thinks it is so funny.
Brooks loves going down the slide in our house with Ashby or Dalton holding him. He could do it again and again!
Brooks still loves baby food along with regular food. He loves the Gerber yogurt whips for snacks. The only things I've found he doesn't like are peaches or prunes. He is a very happy and content baby. He is fun to be around and we love seeing him smile. He loves to wave and smile at people.
He has 6 teeth now. 3 on top and 3 on the bottom.
Brooks loves the stairs. He can go up the stairs very fast. He is learning to go down the stairs backwards the safe way but hasn't quite mastered it yet. He loves to walk everywhere and fast. We have trouble keeping him out of the bathrooms, the pantry, fridge or anything else that is left open and he shouldn't be in.
Brooks is really getting attached to Ashby now. If he is upset he will put up his arms for her to hold and comfort him. He views her as a safe reliable caretaker now I think.
Brooks is a great sleeper still and will go 12 hours straight. He loves his crib and does great with 2 or 3 naps a day. He still goes to bed early between 6-7pm.
Brooks still adores his Daddy and gets so excited to see him come into the room. Even the mention of the name Daddy gets a reaction from Brooks. He likes to babble a lot and say a few words like mama, dada, baba (for bottle), mmmm for more, da for duck.
He loves being in on the action that is going on around him. Brooks really enjoys places with lots of people and noise.
He loves when people wear hats or have facial hair. Both his grandpa's have facial hair so I think that is why he likes it so much.
We are so grateful for Brooks and love him so much!
