Trick or Treat-Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween! Whew!  We did so many different trick or treat parties this year we were ready for Halloween to be over!  Both the kids had school/preschool parties that we made cookies for and I helped volunteer in Ashby's class.  Thanks Mom for watching the boys!  It was fun to see all the creative Halloween games the 2nd grade teachers came up with!  I love educational-type games.
Then we had Ashby's school's 1st annual trick or treat in the halls.  It was fun but so crowded it was hard to enjoy the games, activities and treats.  Even worse, Ryan was out of town that night so that meant I was by myself with 4 kiddos to haul to the event.  Not the best scenario that's for sure!  But we all survived and the kids had fun (I think). :)
Next we decided to do the Reed High School Safe Harbor Trick or Treat.  Every year this one does not disappoint. It is free, not too crowded and the high school kids come up with the neatest games for the kids to play.  We had so much fun at this one.  While we were there we ran into cousin Brock who was also dressed as Anakin Skywalker.  Aren't they cute?!
This game was one of the kids' faves: Spin the wheel to see what type of candy you win.  The kids are obsessed with Wheel of Fortune so it is kind of like spinning the big wheel for them.
The cup game.  Such a classic.  Ashby and Dalton both guessed where the ball was on this one (and the kids did not go slow!).  They were so happy!  Look at Dalton's concentration!  Ha ha.
Fishing game over the snack bar: always a favorite.
Then we had our Ward Halloween Party the Primary was in charge of on Friday.  It was a dinner, trick or treating and games around the church in the classrooms.  It was a lot of fun and the kids really loved the cupcake walk and seeing all their friends from church.
Then on actual Halloween we did dinner and trick or treating at Ryan's brother's house and their neighborhood.  We had Chili and a fun night of trick or treating with the kids.  It is fun to see the cousins have so much fun together.  They are all getting so big it is hard to believe.
Even Uncle Alex and Grandma and Grandpa Bellows were there!  So fun.  All the kids love Uncle Al!
I know I'm a nerd but since Ashby is off track I always feel like I should do a lot of educational activities with the kids.  So I had them sort all the candy they got into separate piles according to types of candy; then I made a little graph for them to chart it out on.  They (well actually just Ashby. Dalton quote "hated" this activity) loved seeing how many of each candy they got and which ones where the most/least.
Even though Dalton wasn't a fan it still was a great activity to keep him busy for at least 30 minutes or so before he decided he wasn't into it.  At least the perfect child Ashby had fun!! :)
