Ashby's 2nd grade class put on a little play called, "The Weather Show". It was sooo cute. They have been learning about the weather all month in class. I loved all the songs and catchy tunes they sang. The play itself was really funny too.
They had several kids in the class who wanted the lead role in the play so the teacher decided to have try-outs. They each had to rehearse the play in front of the class then the class voted who they wanted for each part. Ashby really wanted the lead role of Dr. Emma the scientist. The day she tried out for the part I was so nervous for her and couldn't wait until she got home to see what happened. When she got home from school that day she didn't mention anything about it so I casually asked her if she got the part she wanted. She told me she got the lead role of Dr. Emma! She was so excited and surprised. She kept telling me she couldn't believe it. I was so happy for her.
We all got to see her perform in the play on the first day. She did so great! We were so proud of her. She had all her lines memorized and she was such a good little actress! She had a solo song to sing at the very end of the play. We were all a little emotional afterwards. I'm not sure why but it was such a sweet moment. We love our little shining star. :)
Dr. Emma so happy after finally getting her ancient barometer! Ha ha. The play was really funny and entertaining.
The whole class singing the last song, "A quest for the ancient barometer". I can still hear the tune in my head now! So cute. They all did such a good job!
Ashby and Hope
Ashby and Dalton. Dalton went with us 2 times to the play and he really enjoyed it. He is sooo ready for Kindergarten in a month. I am excited for him.
Ashby was thrilled Daddy, Mommy, Grandma Bellows, Papa Alan and Grandma Becky all got to see her play.
We were sure proud of our little girl. Great job Ashby! I had several parents come up to me afterwards and compliment Ashby's acting skills. Who knows we may have a little actress on our hands. :)
Ashby and her teacher Ms. Evans. She is wonderful and we feel very lucky to have her. She has been so good for Ashby. Ashby just adores her.
