Ashby had her 1st day of first grade today. We have year-round school so it is kind of strange having her start school the end of July in the middle of the normal Summer months. Ashby didn't get much of a Summer but she doesn't know any different and she is SO excited to start first grade. Ashby has always loved school. She really enjoys learning and loves playing with friends and meeting new people.
Ashby was funny and really wanted to pick her clothes and hair style for the first day (she picked what we call the princess Leia Bun Buns). I thought the outfit she chose was really cute.
We took some pictures at the house and then Ashby said her good-byes to Daddy and Dalton (Ryan stayed home with the boys for the 1st day which was nice b/c then I didn't have to wake Brooks up from his nap).
Dalton was really cute and kept telling Ashby, "Give me a hug, I'm really going to miss you!".
I was of course pretty sad. My sweet little helper around the house is going to be gone all day now. However last night when Ryan gave Ashby a Father's blessing before she started school was when the tears really were flowing. So today I actually held it together pretty well today.I did enjoy making her lunch for the 1st time. For a special surprise when she eats her lunch I put in a little note from me on a heart paper inside her lunch box. I can remember finding little surprise notes in my lunch bag at school from my Mom and feeling so loved and special. I hope Ashby loves it as much as I did growing up.
I will sure miss Ashby. The older she gets the more I realize not only what a joy she is to our family but what a speical child she is.
I walked with Ashby to her classroom. She found her name on her very own desk. Inside the desk they each had their own pencil boxes with supplies in them along with their names written on them. Ashby was excited about seeing her own box of crayons and supplies. We said good-bye and off I went. Ashby was still excited and happy when I left. I am sure she will have a great day.
