I had a great Mother's Day this year. It was kind of crazy because Ryan was out of town for a few days for his Grandma's funeral so Mother's Day I was actually by myself for church with the kids. I usually like to get a picture on Mother's Day of me and the kids in front of the yellow plant that always blooms around Mother's Day in our front yard. So husband or not I set the camera on the porch ledge and set the timer for a quick pic right before church. Well at least we tried.....ha ha. Isn't the yellow bush behind us pretty though?! I love it.
Even though Ryan was out of town he and the kids really spoiled me. I started out the morning with breakfast in bed made by Ashby and Dalton. I wish I would have taken a picture of it.....it was so cute. They made a homemade fruit salad, raisin bran with milk. On the tray was a newspaper Ashby made in school called, "Mom's Gazette". Then they had me search around the house for the presents they hid. They were so excited to give me all their little presents and cards.
Grandma Becky was so sweet and took the kids to swim lessons one day for me when Ryan was out of town. Afterwards she secretly took them Mother's Day shopping for me. Here is what they picked out. Dalton picked the pear bowl and Ashby picked the white key holder. They were so cute and kept it a secret from me all the way until Mother's Day.
At church I got the best present ever! The Primary children sang a few Mother's Day songs during Sacrament meeting. During the past 8 years that I have been a Mother I have never had the opportunity to hear my children sing to me in Sacrament meeting. It was the best!! I loved every minute of it. After church I was showered with even more gifts! I loved all the cute pictures and sentimental cards from the kids. They have the best primary teachers.
After church Ashby and Dalton took turns taking pictures for me. They love taking pictures with my camera!
Ryan finally made it home later that afternoon and we had dinner together. I made crock-pot ribs and picked up a Costco chocolate cake the night before. It is one of my favorites. The ribs turned out really good too. It was a recipe I found on Pinterest.....very simple and easy just my style. :)
Another Mother's Day present I received was from Ryan a week earlier. He arranged for all my sisters to meet up for a girls weekend of shopping and fun in Cali. We had a blast! It was the best present ever! More on that later. Happy Mother's Day! I feel so blessed to be a Mother.
