We love General Conference around here(each April and October, our family listens to General Conference, which is an opportunity to hear from our church's leaders). It is such a relaxing and fun weekend! The kids were really looking forward to it this year because I had prepared these baskets for my visiting teaching families and one for our family as well. I made them early in the week so the kids couldn't wait to finally dig in on Saturday morning.
I found this neat idea on Pinterest and loved it. I knew I wanted to do it. The packets were already made you just had to print them out and buy the candy that went with it. Once they completed each sheet in the packet they were able to eat a treat that correlated with the activity from their treat bag. So fun. I ended up doing most of Dalton's packet. It turned out to be a little much for his tastes. Ashby on the other hand was all about it. She had so much fun doing each page and listening intently the whole time.

Bingo turned out to be an awesome one. We had to listen to what words were said and mark the ones we heard with marshmallows on our boards. Once we got Bingo we ate the marshmallows. It was so fun. Me and Ashby were really getting into it. :)
Both Ashby and Dalton really liked this simple activity from the Friend magazine I printed out. Each time an apostle or prophet got up to speak they had to find their picture and put it behind the podium.
Another idea from my sister via Pinterest was get all the white legos together and build a temple out of them. This was a huge hit for Dalton. He loved it. We built the temple together then he played with it for the rest of the sessions. What a great idea!
Dalton and his lego temple. Too bad we didn't have a white door too! Ha! :) I love the flowers he put out front with the white fence. Too cute.
Another activity we did was a conference collage. We gathered a bunch of old magazines and had the kids cut out and paste anything that reminded them of conference and make a collage out of them. Ashby liked this one. I loved how she put labels by each picture. So cute.
Sunday morning I made sticky buns for breakfast. It is a family favorite. The kids were so excited. I am glad we are making Conference a tradition that is fun and something they look forward to. It makes it a lot easier to listen to Conference when the kids are engaged and having fun. It was a wonderful weekend. The talks were so uplifting and inspiring. I had so many thoughts come to my mind of ways I can do better. I am so grateful for living prophets and apostles.
