Happy 8th Birthday Ashby!!

Our baby girl turned 8 today!  I can't believe it has been 8 years since we welcomed this blonde haired blue eyed baby into our lives.  She has been nothing but a complete joy to us since that day.  We are so grateful to have her in our family.  What a blessing she is!

Ashby has been such a joy to raise.  She has always been so happy and good natured.  She loves to stay busy doing things.  She loves to have fun.  She is always smiling.  Ashby always tries to choose the right and make others happy.  I love how she always finds creative and fun things to do at home.  It seems like she is either reading, writing, drawing, playing a game, or making some kind of craft.  She comes up with the cutest ideas.  For Nevada Day this year she put together a whole presentation on the things she had learned from school.  She made a home made workbook for Dalton to do.  It was all about Nevada.  Each month she decorates her cork board above her desk to a theme.  This month it is all about Baptism.
Ashby loves school and all learning in general.  She is exceptionally smart and picks up things quickly.  She loves to read, write stories and in her journal, and make things.  Her favorite thing to do is write and make cards for other people.  She really takes a lot of time and thought into what she writes and how she makes the card.  The wording she uses always amazes me.  We joke she should get a job with the Hallmark company. Ashby is very thoughtful, intuitive, and helpful.  She is aware of other people's needs and tries to help in any way she can.  Ashby tries to be a really good friend, sister and daughter.
Ashby is a responsible girl.  She is very determined when she sets her mind to something.  Everyday she comes home from school she sits right down and does her homework and reading time while she eats her snack.  I never have to remind her to do her homework, get ready for school, brush her teeth, or clear her plate.  She is usually on top of her chores and gets things done without complaining.  She loves to set goals and accomplish them.  She wanted to memorize scriptures from an apostle book she got for Christmas.  She did it everyday by herself until she finished all of them.
Ashby is such a special child.  I feel blessed to be her Mother.  She makes me a better person.  I definitely think she was sent to our family for a specific purpose.  She brings so much joy and happiness to us.
Ashby loves singing and music.  She loves Primary and going to Church.  She is very Spiritual.  She loves reading the scriptures every night and learning about the gospel.  Ashby is usually the one keeping us on the straight and narrow making sure we have FHE every week,  say family prayers, and family scripture study.  She is so excited to be baptized.
I brought in some cupcakes to Ashby's class the Friday before her birthday.  The class sang to her and I had fun hanging out in her class for a little bit.   Ashby loved bringing cupcakes in.  I love seeing her light up on her special day.

Singing Happy Birthday . . .
Ashby with her teacher Ms. Evans.  She is a great teacher.  She has been really awesome for Ashby.  She makes her feel so comfortable and helps her when she gets a little nervous.  Ms. Evans has 2 little girls of her own which makes it nice because she knows girls.  She has helped Ashby with her hair or earrings a few times when she needed it. I love that.

Happy Birthday Ashby. I can't believe all that hair when she was just a baby! I love her baptism dress & headband (I actually ended up getting the same one for Eliza for her baptism since you can't really get cute baptism things for boys. :) And you were one cupcake making machine these past few weeks! I'm impressed.
